William Eliphas Kimathi

Founder

My name William Kimathi, I was born in 1976 in a nondescript village called Karindi, in Meru south (Tharaka Nithi). Currently I live in Maryland United States. All my life, I have been passionate about education and
transition from one level to the next. I grew up in a very poor place, and it wasstruggle going through school,. It literally took a village through my grandparents to see me through school.
My story is a story of many in rural Kenya, and some of us who break through the yoke of poverty and illiteracy, try to pull others out of the same by starting and supporting initiatives that ensure that the cyclic nature of village goodness lives on.
In December 2022, I supported founding of an initiative that will source for funding and pay school fees for needy kids through high school.
The initiative is known as WATOTO WASOME INITIATIVE and Currently has 27 kids in 14 secondary schools, all with 4 yrs fully paid scholarships . We hope to mentor these kids, nurture them and ensure they qualify to join universities in 4 years time and get to be change makers in the village.
My expectation for the initiative is that it can be the change maker. That in years to come , we can put more kids through college locally and abroad and that those kids can come back and build resilience in the initiative setup.
I would urge the benefiticiaries to be the community ambassadors of change through education, and I would urge more people to donate to the WATOTO wasome initiative fund , to put more kids through school.
God goes ahead.
